As I said last week I didn't have a blog until Hudson was about 9 months old. I have never shared his birth story, so here goes!
To start I had a pretty smooth pregnancy to begin with, we had a scare when Hudson started having PACs in utero which caused us to see the high risk doc & have an ultrasound every visit. I hid my nervousness pretty well though and kept a smile on my face :) The week of Christmas I fell twice and then fell while walking from the parking garage to the doc office! Other than that it was pretty uneventful!
At my 35 week appointment I was 2 cm but my OB said I could walk around for another month like that so I wasn't too worried. Flash forward 2 days around 11:30pm I got into bed and immediately felt like I had to use the bathroom, when I got out of bed my water broke, although I didn't realize it at the time. I just thought I had wet my pants, changed, and got back in bed.
That's when the contractions started....I woke up my mom who got me back in bed and started rubbing my back, they were coming about every 10 minutes at this point. I called the doctor and they said to head to the hospital! I then had to call M who was in FL and tell him to start making arrangements to get up to VA!
I then called my inlaws and some friends who all thought I was crazy! Everyone kept saying oh we will see you tomorrow morning, no rush! By the time we headed to the hospital around 1am my contractions were a minute apart, things we progressing very quickly!
After being checked in and having the IV started my OB checked me and I was already at 8cm and was ready for the epidural! The darn thing didn't take the 1st time so they had to do it again :( Pretty much as soon as it took it was time to push...
After 30 minutes of pushing I was given a much deserved break, only to have Hudson's heart rate drop below 90! Everything after that happened in a rapid blur! I didn't really have time to process what was happening, I just knew they needed to get him out as soon as possible...
I'm going to end here this week, come back next week for part II

Oh bless you! I had a failed epidural with C and it is nothing something I wish on anyone. Looking forward to reading part II.
