South Carolina in iPhone Pics

Since my computer has bit the dust I can't upload all my camera pictures so iPhone photos will have to do.

Last Wednesday I sent my baby off to Charleston on an airplane with my FIL! Mack took him to the airport to meet Big Daddy and I about chased the car down the street. I came home from work that day and it was so quiet...I kept waiting for him to walk in the room!

Mack and I left midday Thursday for Charleston, we ended up leaving earlier to try and beat Tropical Storm Andrea. We hit a ton of rain but it wasn't horrible.

Friday morning we were woken up by Hudson and boy were we happy to see him! Mack really wanted to go to Hominy Grill for breakfast so we headed out hoping there wasn't a line...surprisingly there wasn't a wait at all (this was Spoleto week so normally it would've been packed), I think people were scared away by the weather.

We headed down to Beaufort for a wedding around lunch time hoping H would nap in the car...he fell right asleep but we stopped too soon for gas and he was up the rest of the time. As soon as we got there he was wired! Nothing like seeing both grandparents in 1 day plus Uncle Todd and Bonnie. We went canoeing and then experienced the wrath of mud!

That night my parents helped throw a party for the bride & groom so while they were at the rehearsal dinner we grabbed dinner with friends and then headed to the party! H had a ball running around like a crazy person but M & I  were about dying chasing after him.

Saturday my dad I took H over to Parris Island which was really neat! During naptime a few of us went and shopped in downtown Beaufort. I got a babysitter from care.com Saturday night so we could enjoy the wedding without chasing around a 4 year old. The wedding was at the bride's family farm and it was gorgeous! It was probably the best wedding ceremony that I have ever been to, the Homily was amazing and the bride's sister & another girl sang the most incredible song....folky gospel it was amazing!!!

I loved getting to see all my friends and family from VA and of course the weekend went by way too quickly!

Hudson got stuck in the mud, I got stuck trying to help him, Mack pulled him out, and he came out without his shoes....we found 1 but the other was gone

Happy 7th Anniversary

7 years ago these 2 crazy people got married....and in 3 days we are going back to where it all took place!
I am not a huge Anniversary celebrating person, we don't usually do gifts just have a nice dinner. This year we went to see Dispatch at the Ryman and it just so happened that we have a wedding to go to in SC this weekend so we are making a pit stop in Charleston for like 10 hours. If I could fit in every restaurant that I want to go to in that time span I would bt Mack might convince me to wait in line at Hominy Grill after maybe 3 hours of sleep b/c it is that good.

SO....here's to 7 years of marriage and God willing many more!

Memorial Day Weekend

Well Blogger is being its typical screwed up self and all my pictures look blurry...thanks blogger!

We had a great Memorial Day weekend! Saturday we went over to Cars & Coffee in Franklin, Hudson got to hangout in a friends' mustang which he thought was pretty cool! Hudson's friends Cason and Jackson came over for a cookout Saturday night and the boys had a ball with each other.

Sunday we went to church and then worked in the yard and on the house. That night we went over to our friends' house for hot dogs, slip n slide, and s'mores! We also taught the kids how to eat Honeysuckle, such a rite of passage!

Monday since H loves going to my office I took him in with me for a couple hours, he watched a movie and I shredded a bunch of paperwork....fun times! That night we had our friends the Shorts over for drinks and apps. I bought cupcakes from the store and when I went inside to get them for dessert I found an empty container...our black lab Grace helped herself to 6 cupcakes...awesome! Mack ran out for more and the kids were none the wiser.

We have a busy week ahead, tomorrow is Hudson's last day of school :( I am taking tomorrow off so I can hangout with him :) Then tomorrow night Mack and I are going to Dispatch at the Ryman!!! Hudson will have a babysitter Thursday thru Tuesday of next week and then I am putting my baby on a plane to Charleston with Big Daddy!!! I cannot believe I am doing this! We will meet him in Charleston Thursday and then head down to Beaufort Friday to meet up with my family for a wedding....so we are busy and crazy but good things are happening!

Fisker anyone?

Flashback Friday: Missing the Rivah

Every long weekend I get super sad that we don't live closer to home. I miss being able to go to my parents Rivah (thats the way we say it in Richmond) house with family and friends. I can honestly say I miss the Rivah more than I miss Richmond on any given day. It just one of the most low key and relaxing places and only going once a year isn't going to cut it anymore.

When Friendships Evolve

We've all been there, that place in between friends and aquantinces, the place where friendships fizzle and burn out. I've learned that as I get older some friendships start to fizzle out, not because of anything one person has done but they've just run their course...the emails are shorter, the texts rare, and the phone calls fewer and far between. There is nothing wrong with this, this is life and people move on. I am still "friends" with people on Facebook even after our "real life" friendship has fizzled and I think that is great, I still care about my friends and it's nice to be able to check in every once in awhile.

But what do you do when you purposefully end a friendship? When other relationships are affected? Well from what I've learned these are more like divorces. If you end a friendship with someone you must also end it with siblings and relatives. In pretty much all cases this type of evolvement is painful yet necesseary. You could stay mad for years or be at peace with your decision but the pain of ending a friendship that you thought would last is still there.

Friendship is a funny thing...it has many definitions and people want different things from friendships. I know I have friends that I might not talk to daily but I know would be there for me no matter what, no questions asked...and me for them. Then there are the friends I talk to on a regular basis, they are still there for me but they are also my source laughter and my source for venting. Am I the best friend, no, I don't like talking on the phone, I don't send a million emails, I am not that girl. But I love my friends fiercly and would do anything for them...and there lies the problem...

Sometimes I give too many chances to friends, let them walk on me one too many times. Only usually after a last straw situation will I break and be hit in the face by reality. This happened to me recently and man it hurt and then after about 2 hours it didn't...I was at peace it turns out because deep down I knew that this friendship was over, there wasn't a mean text sent just a simple one stating that the friendship was broken and had been for a long time and that I wished them the best and that was it, done, door closed.

I am sure this won't be my last evolution of a friendship, but I sure do hope those fizzle out rather than have to be cut out.
