I am so glad that Hudson and I got to go on vacation with my family! My family built the main house and boathouse in the early 1900's and we've been coming ever since. I come from a long line of Episcopal ministers on my dad's side and the boathouse which was built 1st was originally an Episcopalian ministers retreat. The ministers would come up and be the summer ministers around the lake. There haven't been many changes in the 100+ years, there isn't any insulation just wood and nails, and the light bulbs hang from the ceiling. Of course bathrooms were added and at one point 1 of the boat slips was enclosed to create a separate kitchen so that my grandmother could fix my dad and his brothers breakfast while not disturbing their grandmother in the main house.
I love being here and learning everything I can about the history of our little slice of heaven. I don't know what the future holds for "Dixie" but seeing the 6th generation enjoying her beauty and history is amazing!
